Job Description
As a Student Success Coach and Mentor with City Year, you will serve full-time in a partner public school, providing students with academic, social-emotional, and attendance support. Working on a diverse AmeriCorps team, you'll collaborate with teachers to deliver small-group tutoring, mentoring, and classroom assistance. You'll build strong relationships with students, track progress toward goals, and help create an inclusive, engaging learning environment aligned with City Year's commitment to social justice, leadership development, and personal growth. Responsibilities Coach and mentor students to improve attendance, behavior, and course performance Provide individualized and small-group academic support in partnership with teachers Build positive relationships with students, families, and school staff Track student progress and contribute to data-informed interventions Support classroom activities, school events, and after-school programs Model leadership, equity, and inclusivity in daily interactions Required Skills Student mentorship Academic coaching Classroom support Behavior management Data tracking and reporting Lesson reinforcement Family communication Cultural competency Basic tutoring (math/ELA) Use of online learning tools
