DESCRIPTION

Behavioral Interventionist

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's Degree or higher and required KDE certification for assigned position.

2. Proven ability to work effectively with students that struggle academically due to

behavior.

3. Proven ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff

regarding students that struggle academically due to behavior.

4. Meets requirements for a criminal records check.

5. Meets health requirements as specified in district personnel policy.

Principal

JOB GOAL

The Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in behavior with

special attention to students in Tier II and III. The Interventionist provides individual or

small group instruction to students who are struggling academically due to their

behaviors. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating

student progress and performance.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides high quality instruction to individual students and small groups
  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plan
  • Utilize behavior strategies defined in the Behavior Intervention Plan
  • Appropriately manage student behavior and guide students toward more acceptable
    social behaviors
  • Participate in IEP meetings as appropriate
  • Classroom collaboration and co-teaching
  • Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level
  • Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices
    for individual and small groups of students
  • Uses identified research-based interventions focuses specifically on individual student
    needs
  • Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student
    performance and progress
  • Provides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress
  • Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress
  • Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups
  • Participates in meetings with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student
    placement and progress
  • Provides diagnostic assessments for students as needed
  • Provides input for program development
  • Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management systems
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Designated by the Stronger Connections Grant and paid according to salary schedule for

90 days of employment.

EVALUATION

Evaluated by immediate supervisor.
