Category Schools - Counselor Job Type Contract Step into an impactful role supporting high school students as an academic counselor for the upcoming school year. This full-time contract opportunity begins August 31, 2026, and extends through June 4, 2027. The focus is on empowering students in their academic pursuits by offering essential guidance, encouragement, and resources. Your expertise will make a direct difference in students' educational journeys and future success.
Qualifications:
Active Michigan education certificate with School Counselor Endorsement (please include all current licenses and certifications with your application) Demonstrated experience or training working as a school counselor, particularly with high school populations Strong understanding of academic planning and high school graduation requirements Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students, families, and school staff Ability to maintain confidentiality, compassion, and professionalism in all student interactions
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive academic counseling to high school students, supporting their course selection, college planning, and personal development Act as a liaison between students, parents, and educational staff, fostering a collaborative support system Conduct one-on-one and group counseling sessions as needed to address academic progress and concerns Help identify at-risk students and develop intervention plans to ensure their academic success Guide students through transitions, including post-secondary exploration and career pathways Maintain detailed and accurate documentation in compliance with school and state guidelines You'll join an environment of purpose-driven professionals dedicated to positive change.
