9674713-38619 Job Description Step into a rewarding contract role providing guidance and support to high school students in a vibrant educational community. This opportunity offers one full-time opening, working 40 hours per week over five days, serving a single school site with an engaged caseload of approximately 300 enrolled students. The position starts immediately and continues through June.

Key Qualifications:

Possession of a valid MS standard teachers license (required) Previous experience as a school counselor or in related counseling roles preferred Familiarity with high school student population and their unique academic and emotional needs Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Knowledge of Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) counseling requirements or willingness to quickly learn those standards Compassion, patience, and integrity when addressing diverse student concerns

Primary Responsibilities:

Deliver individual and group counseling, supporting students academic, career, and social-emotional development Maintain thorough records and reporting in line with MDE standards Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to create effective support plans Develop and implement school-wide initiatives related to student well-being and mental health Provide crisis intervention and support as needed Guide students through course selection, college and career planning, and personal development goals Ensure confidentiality and ethical practice in all counseling interactions This contract opportunity places you in a dynamic high school setting where your expertise and care can have a meaningful impact.
