Qualifications:
Required:
Active PA School Counselor K-12 certification is required. Bachelor's and/or Master's is required. The ideal candidate is an experienced school counselor who understands MTSS, embraces data-informed decision-making, can effectively support students' social-emotional, behavioral, and attendance needs, and is eager to help build a sustainable counseling program. This individual should be able to hold space for students while maintaining professional boundaries, collaborate effectively with staff and families, and serve as a leader who can help guide the department through future transitions. Description:
The School District of Springfield Township is seeking candidates for a Middle School Counselor. Applicants should possess excellent interpersonal skills, the desire to work with energetic students, and the ability to relate well within the school community. The School Counselor provides a comprehensive school counseling program that supports the academic, career, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students. This position collaborates with students, families, staff, administrators, and community agencies to promote student success, wellness, and school engagement. The School Counselor assists students in developing educational plans, interpersonal skills, coping strategies, and post-secondary readiness while supporting a safe, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment.
Responsibilities:
Provides individual and group counseling services to students related to academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and career development needs. Assists students with educational planning, goal setting, course selection, graduation requirements, and post-secondary planning. Supports students with career exploration, college and career readiness activities, scholarship opportunities, and post-secondary application processes. Collaborates with administrators, teachers, families, and support staff regarding student concerns, interventions, and support services. Participates in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), student support meetings, IEP meetings, Section 504 meetings, SAP meetings, and crisis response activities, as appropriate. Assists with implementation of social-emotional learning initiatives, behavioral support programs, and student wellness activities. Provides crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and responsive support services for students experiencing academic, behavioral, emotional, or personal challenges. Assists with student transition activities related to grade-level advancement, school transitions, and post-secondary planning. Supports attendance improvement initiatives and intervention strategies for students experiencing attendance concerns. Maintains accurate student records, counseling documentation, schedules, and required reports in accordance with district procedures and professional standards. Coordinates and communicates with outside agencies, mental health providers, colleges, career programs, and community organizations, as appropriate. Assists families and students in accessing community resources and student support services. Supports administration and interpretation of assessments, surveys, career inventories, and related student planning tools, as assigned. Promotes a safe, respectful, and inclusive school climate that supports student well-being and academic achievement. Maintains confidentiality of student, personnel, medical, and operational information. Participates in required meetings, trainings, professional development activities, and district initiatives. Terms of employment:
Full-time, contracted position to be determined in accordance with the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement. Position to begin August 24, 2026. Induction trainings to begin the week of August 17, 2026.
