GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

The College Navigator provides holistic academic advising, coaching, and retention support to assigned

students, with a focus on persistence, completion, and transfer. This position uses proactive, student-centered

strategies and predictive data to remove barriers to success, promote self-efficacy, and connect students to

appropriate campus and community resources.

promotes enrollment and persistence.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Case Management & Advising

  • Provide individualized academic advising and success coaching to assigned students throughout
    their college journey.
  • Use predictive analytics, early alerts, and progress reports to identify at-risk students and coordinate
    timely interventions.
  • Conduct proactive outreach using phone, email, text, and social media to maintain consistent
    student engagement.
  • Support students in developing comprehensive academic and career plans aligned with degree
    completion and transfer goals.
  • Administer and interpret non-cognitive assessments to inform academic and personal development
    strategies.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of all student interactions in approved case management
    systems.
    Student Engagement & Retention Support
  • Build meaningful, motivational relationships that promote student confidence and persistence.
  • Identify and address academic, financial, and personal barriers that affect student performance.
  • Coordinate or participate in workshops and activities focused on study skills, time management, and
    financial literacy.
  • Encourage participation in tutoring, mentoring, and student engagement programs.
  • Provide "nudge" communications and positive reinforcement to encourage course attendance,
    registration, and completion.
    Collaboration & Outreach
  • Partner with faculty, Financial Aid, Counseling, TRIO, and other support offices to deliver
    comprehensive student assistance.
  • Share student progress updates and collaborate to resolve academic or personal concerns.
  • Represent Student Services at college orientations, community events, and recruitment activities.
  • Participate in Student Services Council meetings, cross-departmental committees, and professional
    development opportunities.
    Data & Continuous Improvement
  • Track and analyze student success metrics to measure impact of interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with college policies, FERPA, and applicable grant requirements.
  • Recommend improvements to advising processes, communication workflows, and student support
    strategies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
  • Experience in academic advising, student retention, or success coaching preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and meet deadlines within a collaborative team environment.
  • Knowledge of community college mission, goals, and populations served.
