An Academic or Guidance Counselor provides guidance to students in elementary, middle and high schools to help them succeed academically and socially. Works with school teachers and administrators to address problems that affect student performance, and identifies resources for students and families. Helps high school students to plan academic course work and advises on the college search and application process.

General Description:

Position supports various functions of a school or school-related event.

Essential Job Functions:

Supports various functions of a school or school-related event, including (but not limited to) ticket-taking, instrumental accompaniment, and general assistance with productions

Qualifications:

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Demonstrates professionalism and contributes to a positive environment. Skillfully manages individual, group, and organizational interactions. Effectively uses verbal, nonverbal, writing, and listening skills. Averts problem situations and intervenes to resolve conflicts. Exercises self-control and perseverance when dealing with students. Completes paperwork timely and accurately. Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual.

Education and experience should demonstrate the ability to perform essential job functions.
