OVERVIEW OF POSITION
Overseesand supervises the START Therapeutic Coaches with their schedules, training,and implementation of the therapeutic intervention. Provides direct crisissupport services when needed, to individuals at risk for acute crisis, loss ofresidential placement, and/or individuals who are currently experiencing crisisusing the START (Systemic, Therapeutic, Assessment, Resources, and Treatment)service model. Provides services in the home or community as needed. May serveindividuals with developmental disabilities to address a range of severe needs,such as de-escalating crisis, problem behaviors, adaptive daily living skills,behavioral health needs, health and wellness, social, leisure activities, etc.

Provides coaching, support, and guidance to the parent/guardian/caregiver inimplementing treatment plans. Monitors, documents, and collects data applicableto daily progress. Collaborates withother members of the START leadership team to monitor the quality and deliveryof crisis support services using the START service model.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Provides bi-weekly oversight and individual supervision of the START Therapeutic Coaches by tracking completion of training requirements, completing case reviews, examining participant goals, supporting with materials and interventions, assigning cases, and reviewing documentation. Trains and supervises to Therapeutic Coaches with identifying activities to utilize in order to meet the goals of the service and provide triage of issues as needed. Trains and supervises Therapeutic Coaches to provide support to individuals with daily activities, personal care, behavioral health needs, and health, wellness, and leisure activities. Trains and supervises Therapeutic Coaches, providers, and caregivers on de-escalation and intervention strategies for individuals displaying emergency behavioral health concerns. Leads bi-monthly Therapeutic Coaching group supervision meetings to discuss case reviews and collaborates between coaches on intervention strategies and materials. Works with the START Coordinators and Clinical Director in all scheduling related to Therapeutic Coach utilization including assuring availability of emergency Therapeutic Coach services when deemed necessary by the team. Works with Clinical Director in leading Discharge Planning meetings to review active cases, referrals or pending referrals, and discharge planning of participants. Leads weekly START Therapeutic Coaching Planning meetings to review coach's schedule for the week, updates from assigned coordinator or coach, and discuss pending referrals. Purpose of these meetings is to organize and plan for the week. Collaborates with other members of the START leadership team to monitor quality of START service delivery and assure fidelity to the START model. Communicates with the START Clinical Team Lead and other START leadership regarding the individual's and caregiver's responses to interventions and what is learned about behaviors/signs/symptoms, setting events, triggers and effective interventions based on START Therapeutic Coach documentation and feedback. Implements person-centered therapeutic interventions within an individual's home and support primary caregivers with also implementing these interventions as needed. Communicates with the individual's caregivers and support system regarding the person's care and any significant issues. Conducts observational assessments and provide feedback to START team about biopsychosocial factors influencing current functioning, effects of interventions, and coaching outcomes. Offers consultation and hands-on education with entire family/support system to create a safe, nurturing, and meaningful home environment. Maintains professional boundaries with individuals and families receiving services and follow ethical and licensing guidelines. Participates in development and implementation of persons' cross system crisis prevention and intervention plan. Plans, structures, and prompts social and leisure activities, including activities that build skills for positive supports, stress reduction, health and wellness, communication, adaptive living and daily living. Serves as a positive representative of the START Program with other professionals, families, and the community. Maintains timely documentation, progress notes, and other data, including incident and accident reports. Responds to individual safety needs, including reporting significant changes in behavior and health. Shares admin on-call responsibilities with other START leadership (e.g., Clinical Director, Program Director, Clinical Team Lead, Associate Director) to ensure 24/7 response to crisis situations within one hour of call telephonically and within 24 hours of call in-person. May provide in-person support to the START Coordinator when necessary while responding to a participant in crisis. Provides approval and feedback to START Coordinators recommendations during crisis calls. Ensures START Emergency Assessments are completed by the START Coordinator within 24 hours of a crisis calls that occurred during admin on-call shift. Additionally, reviews and approves the START Emergency Assessment. Leads morning triage if assigned as admin on-call the previous day.
EDUCATION
Master's Degree is required from an accredited college or university with preference for programs related to psychology, social work, or other human service related field.|Must have and maintain current CPR certification card.|Must complete START Coordinator certification within 12 months following employment.
EXPERIENCE
2 years' of professional experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs, in a multi-disciplinary team setting. Typically, experience in managing severe behavior problems such as frequent property destruction, aggression towards others, SIB, PICA, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices, scientifically validated methodologies and approaches found to benefit individuals with developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs; familiar with current research findings. Strong clinical, administrative, and leadership skills. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). Ability to maintain positive consumer interaction and professionalism, communicate effectively through oral and written skills, and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups; demonstrated ability to interact well with participants, their families, and to maintain positive and cordial demeanor. Ability to interpret and implement ESSC policies, procedures and regulations. Ability to demonstrate good judgement, exercise discretion, and maintain a high level of confidentiality in handling sensitive situations and documentation. Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and a TB test. Ability to provide proof of required vaccinations or positive titer showing immunity. A signed declination may be acceptable for certain vaccinations. Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record/fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation per Easterseals of Southern California and/or program requirements. Ability to travel locally; maintain a driving record in compliance with Transportation Safety Standards; maintain auto insurance and vehicle registration.
