Job Description

About the Role The Florida Autism Center of Excellence is looking for a compassionate, hands-on Job Coach to join our team supporting students with Autism and related learning disabilities. In this role, you'll work directly with students at job sites, teaching real-world employability skills and helping each student build the independence and confidence to succeed. You'll also play an active role in shaping and carrying out each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP), working closely with our transition team, families, and community employers. What You'll Do Identify job site duties and expectations for students and guide them through daily tasks Provide hands-on coaching and appropriate accommodations at the job site Support students in completing work to employer standards, adapting your approach to each student's abilities Implement and track progress on IEP goals, including observation and recordkeeping Give students clear, constructive feedback on their progress and development Maintain a safe work environment and ensure proper handling of materials and equipment Communicate regularly with employers, students, families, and FACE staff Advocate for students on the job site and in the community Model workplace-ready behavior and a variety of employability skills Adapt to the day-to-day changing needs of the program What You'll Need High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of related experience or training (Associate degree preferred) Background in ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) preferred Strong communication skills — comfortable writing reports and correspondence, and presenting information to team members, families, and the public Basic math skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Ability to problem-solve, interpret instructions, and manage multiple concrete and abstract variables in a fast-changing environment A positive, professional demeanor and the ability to serve as a role model for students Physical Requirements This role involves standing, walking, sitting, handling materials, keyboarding, and regular talking/hearing. Employees should be able to lift 25-50 lbs, reach with either hand, and have the vision needed for close, distance, and peripheral tasks. Work Environment This position is based in a school setting and may occasionally involve outdoor weather exposure and local travel. As with many roles supporting students with developmental and behavioral needs, employees may encounter challenging behaviors as part of the job; FACE provides training and support to help staff navigate these situations professionally and compassionately.
