Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Day and Employment Programs, the job coach is an individual who is employed to help people with disabilities learn, accommodate, and perform their work duties. A job coach may work with individuals one-on-one and/or in a small group. In addition to working on skills related to performing specific job tasks, a job coach also helps with interpersonal skills necessary in the workplace. The coach will assess the worker's strengths and needs or may rely on an already completed assessment. A job coach's main goal is to help people with intellectual/developmental disabilities retain employment in positions they like and in which they can be successful.
Duties & Responsibilities:
General:
1. Participates as a member of the community support team. 2. Provides transportation services and training in how to use public transportation to program individuals. 3. Educate and train individuals in various areas of expertise. 4. Mentor individuals to enhance their skills and abilities. 5. Part-Time minimum of 20 hours per week, occasional weekends and evenings required due to on-the-job training.
Core Job Coach Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Provide job coaching and follow-up services to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities at their employment locations, 2. Remains calm, patient, and supportive in stressful or time-sensitive situations. 3. Adhere to all policies and procedures specific to the assigned job site. 4. Report progress to employer and Director of Day and Employment Programs. 5. Develop plans and job aids as needed with Supervisor oversight to ensure individuals success at work. 6. Maintain a positive working relationship with the company. 7. Represent CSS business and vocational interests professionally.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
1. Maintains the confidentiality of individuals' records. 2. Utilize the agency billing system (Medisked Connect) to input billing time accurately and timely.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Attend staff meetings and other meetings as requested. 2. Ensure all training compliance for self. 3. Follow agency's confidentiality, privacy, and code of ethics policies. 4. Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Education:
Associate's degree preferred but not required.
Required Experience:
✓ Minimum of one year experience in employment training and placement for people with developmental disabilities. ✓ Possess knowledge and experience in best practices in supported employment services and in the policies and procedures of the Office of Rehabilitation Services (DRS)
Desirable Experience:
Minimum of one year of experience in a Human Service area working with persons with developmental disabilities.
Pay:
$19.00 per hour
