POSITION
Housing Specialist
LOCATION
Lafayette Housing Authority 2601 Greenbush St Lafayette, IN 47904-2478
SCHEDULE:
Full-Time SALARY $1839 - $2022 biweekly
DUTIES:
Primary point of contact for participants and applicants for Section 8 program. Reviews applications for program and interviews applicants; Prepares for and conducts participant meetings to explain program rights and responsibilities; Assists in implementing of new and revised regulations as they occur; Completes annual recertifications; Completes interim recertifications; Scans documents into Laserfiche; Coordinates participants in the moving process; Holds Informal Reviews and occasional Pre-Hearing Appeals; Other tasks as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of High School diploma. Job experience working with low-income people preferred; Maintain a State of Indiana driver's license; Ability to use and maintain standard office equipment such as computer (Microsoft Office), FAX, calculator, copier, postage machine and telephone. Strong math, analytical and organization skills; Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor, co-workers and the public; Ability to compose appropriate written documentation and other required paperwork; Ability to use reference manuals and resource materials as applies to Essential and Non-Essential functions; Ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and economic status; Must be able to obtain Housing Specialist Certification within 3 years of hire Bilingual preferred The City of Lafayette is an Equal Opportunity Employer
