STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Coordinator of Career Planning & Placement-Internship Program in the Experiential Education Center (EEC) provides leadership for the Internship Program by planning, developing, and coordinating the internship program's policies and initiatives. This will include responsibilities such as providing assistance and support to students desiring to engage in internships, internship courses (INT), and other experiential education opportunities. Additionally, this role requires communicating with organization partners to develop academic internships and working collaboratively with faculty and staff to promote opportunities College-wide.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate the daily operations of the Internship Program; working collaboratively to strategize, plan, and implement departmental goals that are consistent with the College's strategic plan and meet the needs of students across all campuses and organization partners. Program Management Collaborate with EEC team regarding program management and event planning. Collaborate with coordinators/chairs of academic programs and other faculty/staff regarding Internship Program initiatives and expansion as applicable. Maintain relationships with other institutions of higher education including, but not limited to, internship coordinators and career services professionals at colleges and universities. Represent the program at regional, community, and professional meetings and events. Assist with the development, implementation, and analysis of data regarding program outcomes and work toward continuous improvement. Review and update Internship Program policies, documents, and resources for students, organizations, and faculty/staff. Ensure accurate student and organization information in database. Collect and track institutional data on internships for the Internship Program (INT). Student Recruitment and Support Plan and implement recruitment strategies to promote the Internship Program and experiential education opportunities to all students across all campuses through tabling, social media, presentations etc. Advise, counsel, and educate students regarding internship opportunities. Provide guidance on resume development, career readiness, internship search methods, and college and Internship Program policies and guidelines. Work collaboratively with colleagues to integrate Internships (INT) into academic programs. Coordinate and facilitate information sessions and pre-registration processes, including reviewing applications, transcripts, accepting students, course registration, resume/interviewing assistance, and schedule coordination. Serve as an advocate for students with organization partners through vetting organizations and opportunities and aligning students' learning/career goals with the internship experience. Internship Organization Partner Development Develop and maintain relationships with organization partners. Review incoming job, internship, and volunteer postings, manage on-campus recruiting events, maintain current vacancy listings for use by students, and provide motivation and ongoing support for students. Plan and implement recruitment strategies that market the Internship Program and other College programs. Collaborate with Internship Program (INT) faculty instructors to ensure course alignment and seamless transition of students and the organization host site. Serve as a resource to the College community by providing organization feedback and related industry standards, as well as contacts for advisory boards, guest speakers, informational interviews and projects, etc. Facilitate communication and follow-up between students and organization partners. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Dean of Academic Affairs as mutually agreed upon and in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Counseling, Education, Organizational Behavior, or closely related field; with six (6) years experience and/or training that includes career counseling, human resource management, recruitment, educational/psychological assessment, counseling, marketing, and public relations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Minimum of three years of experience in Experiential Education or similar field. Proficiency with online data management, recruiting systems, and office technology skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience in project management. Demonstrated ability to relate to community college students and recognize and respond to individual learning needs and preferences. Demonstrated commitment to working as a member of a team, the community college mission, and experiential education. The ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Familiarity with teaching at the community college level. Demonstrated ability to provide individualized guidance and support to help students achieve their career and professional goals. Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
