The Early Literacy Consultant will provide regional leadership in all areas of literacy, interventions, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Requirements:
Current Michigan teacher certificate and HQ for the grade level and content area A Master's Degree in Literacy or Reading
Preferred:
Consistent record of high student growth results in literacy/reading Five years of successful early elementary classroom teaching experience Extensive knowledge of reading, writing, and literacy development, especially foundational literacy skills Extensive knowledge of Michigan literacy standards and essential literacy practices for early elementary Strong interpersonal skills (communication, collaboration, problem-solving) Ability to use observational, formative, and summative assessment data to guide professional learning development, instructional planning, small group instruction, and coaching Demonstrate excellent organizational skills Demonstrate the ability to use technology for teaching, learning, assessments, and data analysis Must hold a proper driver's license and be insurable Regular and reliable on-site attendance
Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities are intended to be illustrative of the major functions of the position and are not comprehensive. Must meet requirements outlined in the Section 35(a)4 grant assurances Support the philosophy and vision of Delta Schoolcraft ISD Assist districts with understanding and implementing the requirements of PA 146 Dyslexia legislation Work with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support teams Work with school districts in assessing needs and integrating Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for PreK-5 literacy Guide teachers and administrators in analyzing data for individual students and develop appropriate action plans (interventions) in response to a student's need Model high-quality instruction/interventions for teachers and support staff Serve as a regional source for the development and delivery of professional learning for teachers, support staff, and administrators to refine practices and gain an understanding of effective literacy instruction Coach in classrooms, building and maintaining confidential relationships Remain current with research and practices related to effective literacy instruction and coaching Participate fully in building, district, and ISD level professional development Collaborate with teachers and staff to provide students with appropriate and engaging opportunities to meet high literacy standards The Literacy Coach/Consultant will present literacy as a process rather than a series of skills and encourage lifelong learning for all Delta Schoolcraft ISD students Other duties as assigned
