Lead Employment Specialist -
HVRP Department:
Employment Services Status:
Full-Time Position Summary The Lead Employment Specialist is responsible for developing and leading employment services for veterans participating in the Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP). This position will build relationships with employers, labor unions, workforce development organizations, and community partners to create employment opportunities for veterans. The Lead Employment Specialist will focus on high-demand industries such as construction, electrical, manufacturing, logistics, and health services, and more. This position will also provide guidance and support to participants, have a case load, and provide further support to the Employment Specialist Assistant and help ensure employment goals are met. Essential Duties Develop and maintain relationships with local employers and labor unions. Identify job opportunities that match veterans' skills and career goals. Develop partnerships that create job placement, job shadowing, work experience, OJT, and apprenticeship opportunities. Work with local workforce development boards and community partners. Attend employer meetings, workforce events, job fairs, and community events. Organize and participate in job fairs and employer events. Educate employers about the benefits of hiring veterans and the transferable skills veterans bring to the workplace. Help veterans identify career goals and connect them with appropriate employment opportunities. Assist veterans with resumes, applications, interviews, and job searches. Monitor employment placements and conduct 30-, 60-, and 90-day follow-ups. Respond to employer or veteran concerns related to employment. Maintain accurate records of employer contacts, job placements, and retention. Assist with HVRP reporting and program requirements. Provide direction and support to the Employment Specialist Assistant. Help develop and improve HHG's employment program and employer network. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred. Experience in employment services, workforce development, human resources, or a related field. Experience working with veterans preferred. Experience building employer or community partnerships. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to travel locally for employer meetings and events.
Pay:
$23.00 per hour
