Job Description

Provides comprehensive academic, career, and personal counseling and case management services to current and prospective students. Serves as a primary student support resource by assessing individual needs, identifying barriers to student success, and connecting students with appropriate College and community resources. Utilizes an intrusive, student-centered approach, predictive analytics, student progress data, and proactive outreach to identify students who may be experiencing academic, personal, financial, or other challenges that may affect their success. Provides individualized case management by developing student support plans, coordinating referrals and services, monitoring student progress, documenting interventions, and conducting timely follow-up to promote student success, persistence, credential completion, and career readiness. Collaborates with faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners to coordinate comprehensive support and address student needs. Supports college student success initiatives. This position reports to the Director of Counseling Services. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Provide comprehensive academic, career, and personal counseling and case management services to current and prospective students. Serve as a primary point of contact for students, providing individualized support, motivation, resource navigation, and guidance to promote student success, persistence, credential completion, and career readiness. Assess students' academic, career, personal, and other support needs; identify barriers to success; and connect students with appropriate College and community resources. Use predictive analytics, daily student progress data, and an intrusive, student-centered approach to identify and proactively support students at risk of academic difficulty or experiencing course-level challenges. Provide individualized case management by coordinating interventions and referrals, monitoring student progress, documenting services, and conducting timely follow-up to ensure students receive appropriate support. Monitor student academic progress and other indicators of student success; identify emerging concerns and initiate appropriate interventions, referrals, and follow-up services. Provide exceptional customer service and serve as a resource for general inquiries related to enrollment, admissions, academic programs, career pathways, College services, and student support resources. Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with NCWorks and other community partners to support workforce development, career services, student employment, and career pathway opportunities. Collaborate with faculty, staff, administrators, and departments across the College to coordinate student support, facilitate appropriate referrals, share accurate information, and ensure timely follow-up. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations and ensure the security, accuracy, and integrity of student information and academic records. Assist with the creation, maintenance, processing, filing, and archiving of student records and student record requests, as appropriate to the position. Participate in College meetings, committees, workgroups, professional development activities, and staff development programs as assigned. Support College initiatives, programs, and special projects that advance student success, enrollment, retention, persistence, and credential completion. Participate in occasional evening and weekend activities as required. Serve on College committees and participate in institutional initiatives as directed by the supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiently operate a computer and related software. Proven knowledge and skill in the use of advanced features of Microsoft Word, and Excel. Ability to show initiative and self-direction as well as communicate professionally across a variety of constituent groups. Proven ability to concurrently address issues of various levels of complexity. Knowledge in the areas of job placement and career opportunities. Knowledge in the areas of testing administration; to include assessments, scoring, and academic placement. Knowledge in academic counseling relating to individual education plans and personal counseling and referral. Knowledge in assisting students with disabilities (ADA). Ability to communicate effectively through speech and writing. Ability to identify, communicate, and analyze problems. Ability to take ownership and utilize constructive feedback. Must be punctual, professional, and ethically conduct oneself. Ability to plan and prioritize tasks. Ability to work respectfully within a team environment. EDUCATION and
EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill, and abilities.
REQUIREMENTS
Education/Skills Required:
Master's Degree in Counseling with one to three years of counseling experience.
Preferred:
Master's Degree in Counseling with three to five years of experience in career counseling. Bilingual; Career Readiness Certificate (CRC).
Experience Required:
Some experience in Academic and Career counseling.
Preferred :
Considerable experience in Academic and Career Counseling as well as college testing administration.
