Job Description

This position is responsible for the recruitment, pre-admission advisement, prospective student communication, admission processing, matriculation, and retention of new and returning students while also providing services and outreach programs to recruit and retain targeted student populations. The College Career Counselor will visit local high schools and assist students in academic planning, aligning the college course schedule with the high school course schedule, resolving academic difficulties, addressing personal challenges, planning K-12 partnership events to take place during normal operating hours as well as in the evenings, and providing information about the College's available support services & resources. May help with international admissions as needed. Reports To Coordinator of Recruitment What position(s) reports to this position? N/A Minimum Education/Experience Bachelor's Degree Minimum (1) year full-time work experience in: academic advising at a regionally accredited college/university, OR counseling/teaching students in a high school setting
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge:
Knowledge of higher education recruitment processes Knowledge and experience with digital platforms. Microsoft Office Suite of programs (WORD, Excel, etc.) or similar software Customer service principles Office practices

Solving problems Organizing and planning Strong Communication, both verbally and in writing Dealing with human relations issues Thinking critically; In using a variety of technical tools Using office equipment Accurately using keyboards and job-related software including work processing and spreadsheet software

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
The work is sedentary work which requires the person in this position to occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
Manual Dexterity:
Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
Talking:
Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which one must convey detailed or important spoken information or instructions to others.
Hearing:
Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discrimination in sound.
Repetitive Motions:
Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Visual Acuity:
Requires close visual acuity to perform activities such as but not limited to: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes. Work is performed in an office environment. This position will require local travel to and from high schools in the local area. Work is performed during office hours; some evening and weekend hours may be required. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Counseling, high education, or public relations (1) or more years of full-time work experience at a community college in admissions, financial aid, advisement, or recruitment.
