PERS POSITION TITLE
Educational Assistant
  • Youth Transition Program (YTP) Specialist
REPORTS TO
Special Education Director
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides transition services to identified Youth Transition Program (YTP) students to support successful movement from school to post-secondary education, training, and employment. Works with minimal supervision to coordinate services, develop work-based learning opportunities, and support student success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and refer eligible students to Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation Services (OVRS). Collect and coordinate required documentation to support student eligibility for OVRS services. Provide Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS), including career exploration, job shadows, work experiences, and job coaching. Develop and support individualized work-based learning and employment opportunities. Advocate for students to ensure access to district programs, services, and resources. Coordinate and provide access to activities such as job clubs, community-based work experiences, and post-secondary planning. Assist students in developing employment skills, independence, and community mobility. Lead and monitor implementation of Pre-ETS activities for assigned students. Collect, track, and report student progress data in accordance with YTP requirements. Maintain positive relationships with community partners and local businesses to support student placement and success. Participate in team meetings with staff and support personnel; collaborate using effective communication and problem-solving strategies. Attend required trainings and meetings provided by YTP and partner agencies. Maintain a safe and supportive environment for students at all times. Serve as a mandated reporter and comply with all state laws and district policies regarding the reporting of suspected child abuse, neglect, or unsafe conditions. Communicate effectively and professionally with students, staff, parents, and community members. Maintain required certifications and comply with all district, state, and federal laws and regulations. Attend work regularly and maintain punctuality. Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Meet current state and federal requirements for educational assistants. Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with students with disabilities and diverse populations. Ability to pass required background and fingerprint checks.
Preferred:
Associate's degree or equivalent education and/or experience. Experience working with students with disabilities or in transition services. Experience collaborating with community agencies or workforce programs. Valid Oregon driver's license or ability to obtain.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work performed in school, community, and job site environments. Frequent walking, standing, and interaction with students in a variety of settings. Occasional lifting, bending, and physical support of students as needed. Exposure to varying environments including classrooms, community sites, and outdoor conditions.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Work year, wages, hours, and benefits are governed by the applicable classified collective bargaining agreement. Continued employment is contingent upon successful background and fingerprint clearance and maintenance of required certifications.
