Through evidence-based, goal-centered, professionally supported programming, BBBS of NYC provides consistent support and guidance to matches that result in longer, stronger match relationships that advance the social-emotional development and academic progress of young people across the five boroughs. BBBS of NYC seeks a part-time College Access Specialist. Reporting directly to the Director, College & Career Success, this person will play an essential role in deepening the organization's college access efforts for our youth. This position is hybrid, and this individual must have availability to work some evenings and weekends and attend weekly meetings with the Director, College & Career Success to advance the department's strategic priorities and establish a comprehensive college access program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and conduct a series of College Access workshops for high school junior and senior Littles, Bigs, and families throughout the academic year. Provide one-on-one counseling sessions for high school junior and senior Littles on the college application and college decision process. Email communications with students, parents, mentors, and program managers. Analyze seniors' financial aid packages. Coordinate and recruit college admission representatives for the virtual College Knowledge Rep Visit Series for Juniors. Collect and distribute college access resources from the CACNY listserv and other outlets; attend the monthly CACNY Membership Meetings Develop an active presence of BBBS of NYC within the College Access/Persistence Community within NYC. Serve as liaison between program departments to ensure participation in college access initiatives. Support with the recruitment & enrollment of the incoming College & Career Success Program Freshmen Class. Maintain accurate and consistent case notes for caseload in the database. Identify and secure 1-2 summer interns for the College & Career Success Program. Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

3-5 years in college counseling. Experience working with students from all backgrounds, especially first-generation. Experience working with community-based organizations. Experience with giving professional development and college access workshops. Evening and weekend availability required. Commitment to BBBS of NYC's mission, vision, and values.

Salary Range:

$30 per hour
