The Success Advisor provides individualized coaching, goal setting, continuous communication, and follow-up to help students identify and overcome barriers and successfully achieve their educational and career goals. This position is grant-funded. Job Duties and Responsibilities Provide quality success coaching/advising services to students Support students in exploring college, technical education, credential, pre-apprenticeship, and career pathways. Assist students with college and postsecondary applications, admissions requirements, testing, financial aid, scholarships, and enrollment processes. Assist students with setting goals and identifying, planning for, and overcoming potential obstacles and defining steps in education and career planning; Builds rapport and trust with students to support successful goal completion; Monitors student academic progress, attendance, graduation requirements, and progress toward individual educational and career goals Refer students to the appropriate specialized staff for such issues as counseling, financial assistance, community engagement, etc. Assist with student recruitment, outreach, and program activities at participating junior high and high schools. Maintain regular communication with students according to college protocols. Maintain accurate student records and documentation required for program reporting, assessment, and compliance. Participate actively in program review and other assessment activities. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and at least 2-3 years of professional experience in a setting such as advising, career services, financial aid, admissions, student success, counseling, or a student affairs office. Candidate must have a genuine interest in the holistic development of students; knowledge of retention, student transitions, and learning strategies; effective communication and empathetic listening skills; the ability to collaborate with offices across campus to best serve CBC students; the ability to prioritize caseload and provide consistent follow-up; and interpersonal skills to demonstrate hospitality as students are welcomed and integrated into the CBC community. Preferred Qualifications A bachelor's degree or higher and a minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience working with diverse college student populations, including first-generation college students, are desirable qualifications. Experience providing academic and/or social support to first-generation, low-income, or underrepresented college students is preferred.
