Qualifications:

College hours, high school diploma or GED Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Computer knowledge and skills required (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook)

Physical ability to move materials and equipment throughout the day.

Positive and professional attitude

Comfortable working with children and adults

Primary Purpose:

Assist Shaw Center staff prepare and run daily events at the center. These events include large student field trips, Family STEAM Nights and professional development events. Assist the Shaw Center staff to ensure that the Shaw Center is actively involved in providing hands on, interactive and fun experiences which inspire students to pursue STEM subjects and careers.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Monitor front door access and phones.

Assist with materials, equipment and classroom setup.

Assist with putting away materials and rearranging classrooms after a field trip.

Print Raptor badges for robotics mentors who come at night and on weekends.

Assist with gathering and managing materials for upcoming events.

Assist during special events outside of normal work hours.

Perform clerical duties such as: typing correspondences, processing of requisitions and purchase orders, answering telephones, photocopying, filing and shelving.

Assist with annual inventory of Shaw Center materials.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Personal computer, copier

Working Conditions:

Ability to maintain a positive attitude under the stress of high energy, sometimes noisy, physically demanding field trips with large groups of students and parents. There will be frequent interruptions and multiple tasks. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. There will also be periods of relative quiet where computer work is required.
