DSPs empower individuals to achieve greater independence, develop social and vocational skills, and participate fully in their communities. Key Responsibilities Direct Support & Supervision Provide supervision, guidance, and assistance to participants in daily activities. Ensure participant safety and well-being at all times. Skill Development & Community Integration Facilitate activities that promote independence, self-advocacy, and social engagement. Support participants in vocational, recreational, and educational opportunities both onsite and in the community. Encourage community involvement, helping participants access public resources, events, and programs. Program Implementation & Documentation Follow individualized service plans (ISPs) and implement skill-building and behavioral support strategies. Accurately document daily progress on goals, behavior, incidents, and other required reports in compliance with agency policies and state regulations. Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and families to support continuity of care. Team Collaboration & Professionalism Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a positive, supportive, and inclusive program environment. Participate in staff meetings, training, and ongoing professional development. Uphold agency values of dignity, respect, and inclusion. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; additional training or coursework in human services preferred. Previous experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities a plus, but not required (training provided). Ability to lift and assist individuals as needed (up to 50 lbs). Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Valid driver's license (driving record will be checked before being hired), reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record. Must pass background checks and meet all state/federal requirements. Mandatory drug screening Work Environment Community-based setting with both indoor and outdoor activities. Regular interaction with program participants, staff, families, and community members. May require occasional evening or weekend hours for special events.
