Completion of an accredited Home Health Aide (HHA) training program preferred. Active Home Health Aide (HHA) certification or license preferred. Physically capable of performing assigned caregiving duties. Ability to safely handle body fluids and other potentially hazardous materials. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare staff. Must meet all applicable employment and personnel requirements. Key Responsibilities Provide compassionate personal care and support to patients in their homes under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Follow established safety procedures while delivering patient care. Maintain regular communication with the supervising nurse regarding changes in the patient's condition. Carry out care according to the written care plan and assignments prepared by the Registered Nurse. Accurately document all care provided and submit required reports on time. Observe and promptly report any changes in the patient's physical, mental, or emotional condition. Complete and submit all required documentation in accordance with agency policies. Perform duties within the scope of practice for a Home Health Aide as defined by state regulations. Scope of Practice Home Health Aides (HHAs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) must perform only those duties authorized by state regulations and the patient's plan of care.
They are not permitted to:
Change sterile dressings. Irrigate body cavities, including administering enemas. Irrigate colostomies or wounds. Perform gastric irrigation or enteral feeding. Insert urinary catheters. Administer medications. Apply heat treatments by any method. Provide tracheostomy care. Perform any personal healthcare service that is outside the approved plan of care or beyond their authorized scope of practice.
