Companion & Personal Supports Position Overview Ability Bridge Group LLC is seeking a dependable, patient, and engaging Direct Support Professional (DSP)/Caregiver to provide Companion and Personal Support services to an adult male with Down syndrome in the Nokomis area. Male caregivers are strongly encouraged to apply based on the individual's support preferences. The ideal candidate is energetic, compassionate, comfortable participating in community activities, and experienced supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Available Schedule Thursday & Friday Approximately 5-7 hours per day Daytime hours Primarily Companion Services Saturday and/or Sunday Flexible hours Afternoons/evenings preferred Primarily Personal Support services Applicants who are available for all or only some of these shifts are encouraged to apply. About the Individual The individual is a social and active 34-year-old adult who enjoys being involved in his community.

His interests include:

Bowling PopStroke Basketball Swimming Riding his tricycle around the neighborhood Karate T-REC activities Challenger Baseball Community outings and recreational activities He has Down syndrome and may occasionally experience frustration when others have difficulty understanding his speech. The right caregiver should be patient, attentive, encouraging, and willing to take the time to understand his communication style. Responsibilities Provide companionship and positive social interaction Assist with personal support needs as authorized in the individual's care plan Encourage independence and development of daily living skills Accompany and actively participate in community and recreational activities Provide transportation/community access as required for scheduled activities Support effective communication and patiently redirect during moments of frustration Maintain a safe and supportive environment Follow the individual's support plan and Ability Bridge Group policies Complete required service documentation accurately and on time Communicate professionally with the individual, family, and Ability Bridge Group management Preferred Qualifications Experience working with individuals with Down syndrome, autism, intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, or related support needs Experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), Personal Support Worker, Companion, Caregiver, HHA, CNA, Behavior Technician, or similar role Strong communication and interpersonal skills Patient, dependable, respectful, and comfortable working independently Comfortable participating in active community outings and recreational activities Reliable transportation and valid driver's license Ability to successfully complete all required background screening and provider requirements Ideal Candidate We're looking for someone who will do more than simply supervise.
