Job Description

You are an experienced caregiver who values consistency, professionalism, and building a trusting relationship with one client. Each shift, you'll support a gentleman living in his own home. He has Parkinson's disease, is a high fall risk, and uses a walker. He is strong, intelligent, and still very much himself—he just needs a calm, attentive partner who helps him move safely and stay independent in the home he has always valued. Your presence helps set the tone for his day.
You stay close during mobility:
getting in and out of bed, rising from a chair, walking, and using the bathroom. A gait belt is used for every transfer and while walking. He can move quickly and become unsteady, so you cue him to slow down, keep pathways clear and well-lit, and never leave him unattended during high-risk moments. Privacy matters; safety comes first. Parkinson's has affected his speech. Watch his face—it can sometimes tell you more than words. Stay patient. Don't take frustration personally. Encouragement helps more than chatter. You assist with personal care, dressing, grooming, and toileting support as needed, including urinal assistance. You prepare fresh, simple meals that are soft and moist (anti-inflammatory, chopped as needed). You sit with him at meals, keep him upright, and watch for swallowing difficulty. You leave the kitchen clean. Light housekeeping is part of the role: laundry, dishes, bed linens, trash, and keeping living areas neat and calm. When the day is quieter, you stay useful—tidying, organizing, encouraging his exercise bike, or supporting home physical therapy. Sitting idle is not expected. You'll assist with medication reminders six times a day including his morning and evening eye care. Some days include pool time. If he swims, you enter the water with him and stay close the entire time. A communication binder is how the team stays aligned. You document daily notes, blood pressure and oxygen readings, completed tasks, linen changes, and medication reminders. This position is a great fit if you are: Calm, patient, and safety-focused Professional in appearance and demeanor Comfortable with Parkinson's-related speech and mobility changes Dependable and value a consistent client and routine Able to work 12-hour shifts, including some weekends Able to encourage independence without hovering—or missing a fall risk Looking to build a long-term caregiver-client relationship Schedule 12-hour shifts (Day or Overnight), including every other weekend.
