Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time caregiver to provide exceptional care and support for a veteran in Easton, MD. The veteran had quadruple bypass surgery 2 months ago and has not recovered. He is bedridden and incontinent, requiring constant support. The family is seeking a compassionate caregiver who either lives close to the veteran in Easton, MD, or can stay full-time at his home. At this time, it is unknown whether the client will regain his strength and independence, or transition to end-of-life care. As a caregiver, you will play a vital role in ensuring safety, personal hygiene, and delivering compassionate patient-centered care so that the veteran can retain his dignity in the comfort of his own home. Your energy, attention to detail, and commitment will make a meaningful difference in improving his quality of life. The pay range listed for this role is dependent on your willingness to live at the clients home. The higher range is for live-in care; the lower is for 40 hours per week scheduled + overtime for on-call care. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive personal care assistance, including help with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, recognizing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately Assist with medication administration following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality Support with mobility using patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques Encourage the client to exercise and regain strength Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with meal planning and preparation Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning tasks and ensuring infection control protocols are followed Offer companionship and emotional support while fostering respectful communication with the client's family Assist with transportation for medical appointments or community outings, ensuring safety during travel Experience Prior experience caring for high-needs clients in a home-based setting Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and emergency response procedures such as CPR and first aid Hands-on experience with patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts and manual handling is highly desirable Background in geriatrics or senior care roles demonstrating patience and compassion for aging populations Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure coordinated care We value energetic individuals committed to providing high-quality support that promotes independence and dignity.
