  • We are looking for dedicated in-home direct care workers to assist our son living with mobility limitations.
He is 37 years old, wheelchair-bound, and has minor cognitive impairment. He enjoys playing card and board games, watching tv and movies, and social activities outside of the home. He needs to be accompanied by a caring person willing to spend time with him. Your duties will include performing housekeeping tasks, meal preparation, and taking care of personal hygiene needs. All necessary transfer and care equipment is provided in the home. Compensation is through the state with W-2s provided. 24/7 care is needed, hired staff will have direct input on shift availability and schedule structure. Merit bonuses will be given for reliability and exceptional care. Ultimately, an outstanding direct caregiver will be someone who creates a real relationship with, improves the quality of life of, and offers the highest level of independence possible for our son. Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Administer medicine and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers
  • Perform personal hygiene care (ie assist with dressing, bathing, dental care, etc.)
  • Prepare meals
  • Provide restroom support
  • Assist with shopping for groceries and basic household items
  • Transfer from bed into a wheelchair in the morning and back at night
  • Help maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment in the home
  • Accompany on social outings
  • Perform Range Of Motion Therapy Exercises
  • Assist with 2 loads of laundry per week
  • Completion of progress notes at end of shift
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Reliable personal transportation.
  • Ability to perform basic housekeeping duties, run errands, and prepare meals.
  • Ability to assist with mobility, personal care, and hygiene needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a caring approach, and physically fit.
  • Willingness to work "irregular" hours (ie evening hours, overnight hours, or weekends).
  • Willingness to complete required training courses (training provided and time compensated).
  • Experience in the same or similar position is preferred, but not required.
  • University students with interest in medical field professions is preferred, but not required
Location:
West Ann Arbor Compensation:
$18-20 per hour, dependent on experience and shift. Merit bonuses will be given for reliability and exceptional care.
