Job Overview The Personal Caregiver provides hands-on physical assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) in addition to companion care duties. This role supports seniors with mobility challenges, recovery needs, or advanced memory loss who require direct support with hygiene, dressing, and physical transferring to live safely and comfortably at home.
Key Responsibilities Hands-on ADL Assistance:
Discreetly and respectfully assist with bathing/showering, dressing, grooming, oral care, and toileting/incontinence care.
Mobility & Transferring:
Provide physical support with walking, stand-pivot transfers (e.g., bed to chair), and repositioning to prevent falls.
Eating Support:
Assist directly with feeding or specialized meal preparation for clients with physical or swallowing constraints.
Advanced Memory & Dementia Support:
Loving, patient support for clients experiencing moderate-to-advanced Alzheimer's or dementia; monitor changes in condition and report to supervisors/families.
Post-Hospital & Condition-Specific Care:
Follow individualized care plans for clients recovering from surgery or managing conditions like Parkinson's, stroke, or COPD.
Full Companion Support:
Perform all core companion duties (medication reminders, light housekeeping, meal prep, transportation, and family relief). Requirements & Qualifications Prior professional caregiving experience, CNA/HHA certification, or completed personal care skills training preferred/required depending on local guidelines. Ability to safely lift, transfer, and assist clients physically (typically up to 25-50 lbs safely using proper body mechanics). High level of patience, dignity, and respect for client privacy. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to pass background checks.
Pay:
$16.00 - $17.00 per hour
