Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and VERY dependable Overnight Caregiver to join our team! This position works 5:00 PM - 5:30 AM, 3-4 days per week . Applicants must have flexible availability and be willing to work rotating weekends and holidays. Our Overnight Caregivers play a vital role in ensuring the safety, comfort, dignity, and well-being of our residents throughout the night. The ideal candidate is attentive, patient, hardworking, and able to provide compassionate care while remaining alert and responsive to residents' changing needs. Dependability is extremely important. Our residents and team need someone we can count on to consistently show up for scheduled shifts. Responsibilities Monitor residents' safety, comfort, behavior, and overall well-being throughout the overnight shift Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) , including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, toileting, and incontinence care Observe, take, and document vital signs and report changes in a resident's condition or behavior Assist with physician-ordered medications according to care plans, training, and facility procedures while maintaining accurate documentation Assist with turning, repositioning, transfers, ambulation, and getting residents in and out of bed Safely use assistive equipment such as Hoyer lifts, gait belts, walkers, and wheelchairs Follow proper lifting and transfer techniques to protect both residents and staff Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, including performing First Aid or CPR when necessary Prepare meals and snacks according to residents' dietary needs and assist with eating when needed Provide emotional support, reassurance, and companionship, particularly for residents experiencing dementia, Alzheimer's, memory loss, or confusion Complete accurate daily charting and documentation Perform housekeeping duties, including resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, laundry, linens, dishes, sweeping, mopping, and other assigned cleaning tasks Follow infection-control, resident-safety, and facility procedures Maintain resident privacy and confidentiality Communicate effectively with management, healthcare professionals, families, and other caregivers regarding changes or concerns Qualifications & Experience Previous experience in assisted living, Adult Foster Care, group homes, nursing homes, residential care, or home health is highly preferred Experience with dementia, Alzheimer's, memory care, geriatrics, developmental disabilities, or hospice care is a plus Knowledge of medication assistance/administration and accurate documentation Familiarity with taking and recording vital signs Experience with Hoyer lifts, resident transfers, and safe lifting techniques is preferred Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to safely provide hands-on assistance to residents Strong communication and teamwork skills Must understand the importance of resident confidentiality and HIPAA Must meet Michigan Adult Foster Care Workforce Background Check requirements CPR and First Aid certification required Must meet applicable Michigan Adult Foster Care requirements Must be willing to work overnights, rotating weekends, and holidays Must have flexible availability Above all, applicants must be
