Job Description

Family Assistant / Nanny - Oxford, Michigan We are active, family-oriented grandparents seeking a warm, energetic and highly dependable Family Assistant/Nanny to help care for our three young grandchildren in our Oxford home while their parents work. Our household is a little different from a traditional nanny position. Grandma loves being actively involved with her grandchildren and will usually be home. We are not looking for someone to replace her. Instead, we want someone who can take much of the physical and organizational workload off her shoulders so she can enjoy being Grandma. The ideal person will be comfortable working alongside an involved grandmother, taking initiative when help is needed, and independently taking over childcare when Grandma wants to rest, exercise, run errands or have personal time.
Responsibilities include:
Infant and toddler care Feeding, bottles, diapers and naps Planning age-appropriate learning and Montessori-inspired activities Taking children to libraries, parks, playgroups and other activities Outdoor play, walks and developmental activities Children's laundry and organization Preparing children's meals and snacks Cleaning up after children's meals and activities Packing diaper bags, strollers and supplies Keeping children's areas organized Driving children and assisting with afternoon parent handoffs Occasional errands related to the household or children Providing independent childcare when Grandma takes time away Occasional family travel We are looking for someone who is: Experienced with infants and toddlers Comfortable eventually helping with three young children Proactive - someone who sees what needs to be done and does it Warm, patient and genuinely enjoys children Energetic and physically capable Organized and dependable Comfortable working as a team A safe and confident driver with a clean driving record CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified Interested in a stable, long-term position Our philosophy We want our grandchildren to have active, engaging days filled with reading, outdoor play, socialization, exploration and age-appropriate learning. We have a large child-friendly home with plenty of indoor and outdoor play space. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who understands the unique nature of this position. Grandma may be very involved one morning and decide she needs a break that afternoon. Our Family Assistant should be comfortable moving naturally between supporting Grandma and becoming the primary caregiver. We want this person to become a trusted and valued member of our family's caregiving team. Competitive compensation based on experience. Driving is required. Long-term availability strongly preferred.
Pay:
$49,924.38 - $60,123.99 per year
