Overview A Caregiver is responsible for providing direct support services and supervision of individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and the community. A Caregiver provides ongoing mental, emotional, physical, and behavioral support to individuals served. Open Schedule (Starting at 24-29 hrs/weekly; will increase to 37 hrs in a few months) - Male, mid 30's, lives alone in Lexington. Fridays 3 pm-11 pm; Saturdays 7 am-11 pm. (Will add Tuesdays 3 pm- 11 pm within the next few months). Enjoys car shows, music, and sports. Needs support with community activities, grocery shopping, running errands, meal prep, medication reminders/assistance only, light housekeeping, and staying active. - Male, mid 60's, lives in Mansfield. Up to 5 hours per week (flexible). Needs support with grocery shopping, running errands, and occasional community activities. Required Qualifications Be at least 18 years of age. Have a high school diploma or GED. Pass a criminal BCI/FBI background check and not be listed on any abuser registries that restrict employment. Hold a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, carry appropriate auto insurance, and have a reliable personal vehicle. Driving your personal vehicle is a regular part of this position. Mileage is reimbursed. Be able to competently read, write, and verbally communicate in English. Be comfortable with regular use of technology and systems (i.e., computers; iPads; smartphone applications). Hold valid CPR and First Aid certifications or can pass certification courses. Be able to meet the physical, emotional, and mental demands to fulfill all job responsibilities and duties. Preferred Qualifications At least one (1) year of experience working with or providing care for individuals who have developmental disabilities. Have basic knowledge of systems and processes within the field of developmental disabilities. Responsibilities Provide individualized, direct support services to persons with developmental disabilities, which may include assistance with light housekeeping, meal preparation, grocery and personal shopping, money management, medication reminders, health and wellness, community integration, transportation, recreation, socialization, and other duties as required. Act in a caring, open-minded manner to help others live their best life and integrate successfully into the community. Display attributes of being observant, detail-oriented, dependable, adaptable, and punctual. Maintain flexibility and adaptability during shifts to best meet the needs and requests of individuals served. Utilize the Individual Support Plan (ISP) as guidance in the provision of services. Complete all required daily service documentation with legibility, accuracy, and timeliness. Utilize the Medicaid EVV system to track all client visits and report all system and process errors promptly. Positively engage individuals in all daily living activities, supports, and service provisions, including encouragement to connect to their communities and build relationships. Respond appropriately and provide care in behavioral, emergency, and crises, including reporting incidents. Work independently to achieve outcomes determined by persons served. Work well in a team-driven environment, including working with guardians, families, and all service team members. Supervision A Caregiver reports to the branch Director and/or Chief Officer, whichever applies. Work Expectations The hours for this position may vary depending on the needs of the individuals. The schedule will be determined and agreed on at the time of hire; however, flexibility may be expected due to the nature of the position . Work is based in the homes and/or local communities of the individuals served. Travel in your personal vehicle is required throughout the community as part of the service plan and/or community engagement duties , but the shifts typically begin and end at the individual's residence. Mileage is reimbursed.
