This position involves working closely with clients in various settings, including group homes and home health environments, to promote independence and enhance their quality of life. The DSP is responsible for fostering a safe and supportive atmosphere while respecting resident rights and individual needs. Duties Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management. Support individuals in developing life skills and achieving personal goals through tailored programs. Maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents, ensuring hygiene standards are met. Advocate for the rights of residents, ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect at all times. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, to provide comprehensive care to clients. Document daily activities and progress notes accurately to track client development. Lift and assist clients as needed to ensure their mobility and comfort. Engage clients in recreational activities that promote social interaction and community involvement. Helping with daily living skills like cooking/ cleaning/ toileting/ showering, etc. Skills Experience working with people with disabilities is preferred; familiarity with developmental disabilities is a plus. Knowledge of patient care practices within long-term care settings is beneficial. Strong understanding of resident rights and advocacy principles. Ability to maintain a clean environment while adhering to health standards. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members. Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to enhancing the lives of those supported. Physical capability to lift clients safely when necessary and assist them in mobility tasks. This role requires dedication, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting individuals with diverse needs.
