Job Description

Overview As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities. Your primary focus will be to provide compassionate care and support, enabling clients to achieve their personal goals and maintain their independence. This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to fostering a supportive and respectful environment. Responsibilities Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences. Promote social interaction and community involvement by facilitating recreational activities and outings. Ensure the safety and well-being of clients by adhering to established protocols and resident rights. Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and any changes in behavior or health status. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other support staff to ensure comprehensive care. Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients, fostering a positive atmosphere. Skills Experience in direct support or home health care is preferred. Knowledge of social work principles and practices related to individuals with developmental disabilities. Familiarity with first aid procedures and emergency response protocols. Understanding of resident rights and advocacy for individuals in long-term care settings. Ability to lift and assist clients as needed while ensuring their comfort and dignity. Experience working with individuals in memory care settings is a plus. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
