A Caregiver or Personal Care Aide provides non-medical care for adults, including elderly and disabled people, typically in their own homes. Assists clients with daily tasks including bathing, medication reminders, and light housekeeping; may also provide transportation for appointments and errands. These roles do not always require formal certification.
We are seeking compassionate, patient, and reliable caregivers to join our Memory Care team at Farr Residential Care. This position supports residents living with Dementia, and other memory-related conditions within our secure memory care community. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, observant, team-oriented, and committed to providing a safe, structured, and supportive environment while helping residents maintain dignity, comfort, and quality of life.
Thursday -Saturday 7:30pm-8:30am (1+ year of memory care or dementia care experience preferred for all shifts.) Support residents through daily routines using cueing, redirection, reassurance, and reminders based on individual cognitive needs while encouraging independence whenever possible. Monitor residents for changes in condition, behavior, mood, appetite, mobility, or cognition and report concerns immediately to the RN, House Manager, or Director. Demonstrate understanding of what constitutes a change in condition and respond appropriately. Remain calm and supportive during challenging situations, utilizing dementia-informed approaches, redirection, and de-escalation techniques. Assist with structured activities, engagement opportunities, socialization, and daily routines that promote resident well-being and quality of life. Provide close observation and supervision to help ensure resident safety within the secure memory care community. Prepare residents for scheduled activities and appointments as needed. Accurately obtain and record vital signs and weights and complete daily documentation and required progress notes as assigned. Assist with light housekeeping, cleaning, and laundry as needed, and support dining room operations including meal set-up, serving, and clean-up. Maintain confidentiality of resident and employee information at all times. Build respectful, professional relationships with residents, families, and coworkers while providing consistent support. Work as part of a team while demonstrating reliability, compassion, patience, and professionalism. Follow all safety procedures, policies, and directions from supervising staff. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or management. Skills & Qualifications Experience working in memory care, dementia care, caregiving, or direct support in a licensed facility preferred. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and accuracy. Compassion, patience, and emotional stability. Ability to remain calm and supportive in stressful or unpredictable situations. Ability to recognize and report changes in resident condition, cognition, or behavior. Ability to support resident independence while providing appropriate levels of care and supervision. Understanding of person-centered dementia care principles preferred. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Requirements Ability to pass WA State background check. Active Home Care Aide (HCA), CNA, or NAR.
