Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
Employees in this position are responsible for serving in maintenance roles in the Department of Social Services. The income maintenance programs involved include Food Stamps, Medicaid, Work First / Cash Assistance, Day Care Subsidy, and Program Integrity. This employee will serve as lead worker and trainer of new employees which will include teaching of program policy and use of the required systems which includes NC FAST. Income Maintenance Caseworkers use North Carolina's eligibility system, NC Fast, to regularly input data for the purposes of initial/ongoing eligibility and enrollment of clients in various Public Assistance programs. Training will also include update training to all Income Maintenance Caseworkers on new policy and updates of job aids for NC FAST. This position will complete 2nd party reviews for new employees along with existing employees and requires in-depth knowledge of Medicaid and Food Stamp programs and NC FAST process. This employee must have the ability to encourage trainees with verbal praise and constructive criticism during training period. This employee will report progress of training to appropriate supervisor. Employee may be asked to carry small caseload at times or assist due to vacancies. This position will serve as lead worker over II level income maintenance caseworkers or as lead worker over a unit of a single program area which performs all functions (i.e., intake, processing, and review). Employee must be able to read, analyze and interpret a variety of regulations and resolve complex issues while training new employees to work within required timeframes.MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Income Maintenance Caseworker III - Two years' experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker II or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Income Maintenance Caseworker I - An Associate Degree in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; graduation from high school and two years paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.POSITION AVAILABLE
