UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a part-time Mental Health Specialist III for the Adult Partial Hospital within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. The primary purpose of the Mental Health Specialist III is to provide daily direct care services to the program's consumers as directed by the unit supervisor in accordance with all regulatory requirements and principles of Wellness and Recovery. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Counsels consumers which may include family members with empathy, respect and concern. Responds with sensitivity to spiritual, cultural, and socioeconomic issues of consumer. Provides services and interventions that promote consumer strengths, develops the independence and sense of autonomy of all consumers. Meets with consumers as assigned to provide case management services which support the treatment team recommendations. Completes progress notes as per regulatory requirement and supervisory directive. Completes all forms, incident reports, and correspondence as per regulatory requirement. Participates in and/or leads therapeutic groups and activities and functions as an active member of the team. Effectively contributes to and supports an environment that enhances the positive self image of consumer and preserves their human dignity.

The employee spends much time walking throughout the program, standing while facilitating groups throughout the program day, bending, and talking with consumers throughout the building. Crisis intervention required at times. Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Subject to unpredictable situations, patient crises, both medical and psychiatric. Occasionally exposed to patients exhibiting assaultive behaviors.
