About TRI Taconic Resources for Independence (TRI) is a Center for Independent Living serving people with disabilities throughout Dutchess County and the surrounding region. TRI provides advocacy, resources, benefits assistance, housing support, transition services, and other programs designed to promote independence, access, and full participation in the community. Position Summary TRI is seeking a Mobile Benefits Coordinator to help individuals with disabilities and other eligible community members understand, access, and navigate public benefits and community resources. This is not a traditional desk-based position. The Mobile Benefits Coordinator will bring services directly into the community, meeting consumers at TRI, partner agencies, community organizations, libraries, housing locations, and other accessible locations throughout Dutchess County. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, comfortable working independently, and able to make complicated benefit systems easier for consumers and families to understand. Key Responsibilities Provide individualized benefits counseling and navigation in office and community-based settings Assist consumers with understanding programs such as SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, HEAP, and other public benefits Help consumers identify potential benefits and understand application, renewal, and documentation requirements Assist with benefit applications, supporting documentation, referrals, and follow-up within the scope of the position Help consumers understand how employment, income, housing, and other life changes may affect their benefits Connect consumers with specialized benefits planning, legal, healthcare, housing, and community resources when appropriate Establish regular outreach opportunities at community locations throughout Dutchess County Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, government agencies, healthcare providers, housing organizations, and other referral partners Conduct community outreach and educational presentations about benefits and TRI services Maintain accurate and timely case notes, consumer records, service documentation, and required program data Track referrals, services, follow-up activities, and consumer outcomes Maintain consumer confidentiality and professional boundaries Participate in staff meetings, trainings, community events, and agency initiatives Qualifications Experience in human services, benefits navigation, case management, disability services, social services, healthcare, or a related field preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in human services, social work, psychology, public administration, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in place of formal education Familiarity with SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, and other public benefit programs preferred Experience working with people with disabilities—professional, volunteer, or lived experience—is valued Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and documentation skills Ability to explain complex information clearly and respectfully Comfortable working independently and traveling throughout the community Ability to establish positive working relationships with consumers, families, community partners, and government agencies Basic proficiency with computers, electronic records, email, and Microsoft Office Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required due to the mobile nature of the position Benefits MVP Health Care medical coverage with substantial employer support 401(k) retirement plan Employee Assistance Program (EAP) 15 paid vacation days, increasing with length of service 13 paid holidays 12 paid sick days 4 paid personal days Paid birthday floating holiday Professional development and training opportunities Benefits and paid leave for part-time employees will be based on eligibility and applicable TRI policies.
