As the nation's largest volunteer-supported mentoring network, we create impactful, monitored matches between adult volunteers and youth in communities nationwide, fostering positive growth and lifelong success. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore (BBBSES) is seeking an outgoing, high-energy On-Call Community Outreach Specialist to serve as an ambassador for our agency across the Eastern Shore. The primary focus of this role is actively staffing information tables at local fairs, festivals, community gatherings, and churches to raise brand awareness, recruit volunteer mentors ("Bigs"), and promote our free youth services, including mentoring (1to 1 and group), enrichment opportunities, and family support resources.
Key Responsibilities Table Setup & Proactive Engagement:
Set up and staff agency information tables at indoor and outdoor events across diverse weather conditions. Actively approach and engage attendees to draw them to the table and secure contact sign-ups.
Program & Enrollment Promotion:
Clear and enthusiastic communication of agency offerings, with an immediate focus on recruiting volunteer mentors and enrolling children ("Littles") facing adversity.
Community Presentations:
Conduct brief informational presentations about BBBSES programs to community groups, local businesses, and church congregations as assigned.
Documentation & Proof of Attendance:
Take and submit a professional selfie/photo at each event location for administrative verification and agency social media promotional use.
Administrative Compliance:
Immediately submit all completed event sign-in sheets following each event. Submit accurate timesheets on a strict bi-weekly schedule.
Optional:
Staffing fundraisers, resource deliveries, etc. Qualifications & Requirements Exceptionally outgoing, approachable, and self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills. Comfort working outdoors in varying seasonal weather conditions (heat, rain, cool weather). Comfortable presenting information in various community settings, including faith-based locations and churches. Ability to transport event materials (tablecloth, banners, flyers, give-aways) to assignment locations. Strict adherence to administrative deadlines (event documentation and bi-weekly timesheet submission). Pay:
