Job Description
An outreach specialist is a social service professional who works directly with the community to promote health and wellness. As an outreach specialist, your job duties involve identifying community needs, developing wellness programs and initiatives, and tracking progress. This position will mainly take place in Lapeer county, however the Outreach Specialist will also be expected to partake in certain outreach events for the organization as a whole which also covers the Flint and Owosso locations. This is a full-time position at 40 hours. This position reports to the Community Development Coordinator. Hours are Tuesday
- Friday 10:00am
- 7:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am
- 2:00pm.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness about our organization's mission and services
- Develop and implement strategies to engage and educate the community about addiction counseling and public health initiatives
- Collaborate with community organizations, schools, and healthcare providers to coordinate outreach efforts
- Deliver presentations and public speaking engagements to various audiences on topics related to addiction counseling, public health, and social work
- Utilize social media platforms to promote our organization's programs and events
- Recruit volunteers and participants for fundraising events and community programs
- Supervise outreach team members and provide guidance as needed
- Collect data on outreach activities, including attendance, participant demographics, and program outcomes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, or a related field
- Proven experience in outreach work, preferably in the field of addiction counseling or public health
- Strong public speaking skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences
- Experience in fundraising and event planning is highly desirable
- Knowledge of social media management tools and strategies
- Ability to educate and engage individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with data collection methods and analysis
