Journey Adult Day Center is seeking an energetic, compassionate, and organized Activity Coordinator to create engaging experiences for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), older adults, and individuals with physical disabilities. At Journey Adult Day Center, we believe every participant deserves opportunities to learn, socialize, stay active, and experience their community in a safe and supportive environment. What You'll Do As our Activity Coordinator, you will: Plan and implement engaging daily activities that promote physical, cognitive, social, and emotional wellness. Develop and publish a monthly activity calendar. Organize community outings, educational field trips, and special events. Build partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, schools, civic organizations, entertainers, and volunteers. Coordinate guest speakers and community presentations. Ensure activities are inclusive and adapted to participants' abilities and interests. Maintain activity participation records and required documentation. Order and organize activity supplies and maintain inventory. Assist with holiday celebrations, fundraising events, and family engagement activities. Work closely with nursing staff, direct support professionals, caregivers, and the Center Director to support participant goals. Help ensure compliance with North Carolina Adult Day Services standards and agency policies. Provide supervision and support during community outings while promoting participant safety and dignity. Perform other duties as assigned by the Center Director.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or GED. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects. Compassionate, dependable, and positive attitude. At least 1 year work effectively with older adults and individuals with disabilities. Microsoft Office skills
Preferred:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Human Services, Education, Social Work, Gerontology, Psychology, or a related field. Experience in adult day services, senior centers, healthcare, recreation therapy, or disability services. Experience planning activities, community events, or recreational programs.
