Director of Faith Formation Saint Thomas The Apostle Church - 5.0 Oxford, CT Job Details $22 - $24 an hour 2 hours ago Qualifications Confidential information handling Employee relationship building Full Job Description The Director oversees the Religious Education and Faith Formation of children and families, and preparation for the Sacraments of Initiation (Eucharist/Confirmation). The parish has offered for over twenty years the Generations of Living Faith (G.O.L.F.) model of Faith Formation. The Director of Faith Formation would work closely with the Pastor and other staff to revise and implement a new program, for example, the "Faith & Life" program from Ignatius Press.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develops goals, objectives, and strategies for Faith Formation in cooperation with the Pastor and other parish staff and volunteers. Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates catechists and support staff. Works in collaboration with Pastor and other members of the staff. Responsible for the maintenance/usage of Audio/Visual Equipment in the church hall. Creates and monitors a budget (income and revenue allocation for the operation of programs) in collaboration with the Bookkeeping office. Plan and implement a one-week Summer Vacation Camp. Oversees the Safe Environment program of the Archdiocese of Hartford within the parish to ensure that all parish employees and volunteers are in compliance with VIRTUS training and background checks. Plans and coordinates appropriate family/student extracurricular activities that promote Catholic Social Teaching and reinforces classroom learning. Other duties as assigned
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Religious Education/Theology preferred Prior experience: Teaching and/or administrative position in Catholic school preferred

Teambuilding skills; development and maintenance of positive interpersonal relationships Strong oral communications, presentation skills, writing ability Fluent (read/write/speak) in English language Problem solving and critical thinking skills Interpersonal skills -displays a high level of tact, diplomacy, and professionalism Planning/organizing -plans work activities and uses time efficiently. Quality control -demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality. Adaptability -adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. Resourcefulness - ability to seek out and use cutting edge resources (products, training, etc.) to ensure the job is being done as efficiently as possible. Proficient use in operating a computer.
