STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Assistant Director works with the Executive Director in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Soup Kitchen Program including menu and preparation for meal service; food distribution; volunteer coordination; ordering of supplies; equipment and sanitation; event support; and preparation of periodic reports required by different agencies.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
Monitor and ensure compliance with St. Mary's County Health Department Assist with grant writing, reporting and administration as needed Enter and report monthly program statistics Ensure that an adequate inventory of all supplies and food items is maintained Supervise volunteers; and complete appropriate volunteer and compensatory workers' records Participate in public relations and fundraising events/projects as requested Ensure that food preparation, service, delivery, storage and sanitation are performed within program guidelines Participate in staff/management meetings, board meetings, trainings, workshops, etc. as requested
MINIMUM/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree or related experience working with underserved population Experience with leading or supervising volunteers Health food handling certified or the ability to become certified within 90 days

Demonstrated ability to develop working relationships, partnerships, and collaborations with diverse communities and stakeholders Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to work independently with initiative Demonstrated ability to utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make complex and collaborative decisions Experience in program, operations, and volunteer management in nonprofit, government, or other community setting Experience with grant writing and fundraising Competency with basic computer skills and programs and demonstrated willingness to learn new technological tools Ability to work in a team atmosphere, be flexible, exhibit professional demeanor and positive attitude
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to occasionally lift and moves items up to 40 pounds.
Work Schedule:
Normal hours can vary between 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 on Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends and evenings.
