JOB DESCRIPTION
Unity Senior Center Administrator (Administrator)
Summary:
This part-time position ensures that those who come to Unity Evangelical Lutheran Church (Church) to participate in Unity Senior Center (Seniors) activities are met with dignity, respect, and compassion. This position ensures safe, effective and efficient operations by implementing and enforcing Seniors guidelines, planning and coordinating day-to-day activities, and building community relationships. This position works with the Seniors Governing Board, the Church's Word and Witness Ministry and Council to coordinate: 1) the Seniors relationship with the Church, 2) development and facilitation of guidelines 3) needed facility improvements or repairs, and 4) expansion of programs and activities. The current hours of the Unity Senior Center are Monday through Thursday approximately 10 am to 3 pm. The Dancers group typically meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and the Gamers group typically meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Essential Functions:
  • Facilitates the relationship between the Church and Seniors.
  • Works with Seniors to develop special events, service projects, trips, and activities on a monthly basis.
  • Ensures distribution of information through Church and Senior websites and social media accounts.
  • Monitors and maintains facility and equipment, and communicates with leadership regarding capital needs, cleaning, repair, and overall safety issues.
  • Assists with preparation of summary reports and other reports as required by outside agencies and donors.
  • Works with Seniors and Church to develop and ensure compliance with operational guidelines.
  • Manages project budgets and maintains control of operations and costs with effective purchases.
  • Collaborates with grant writer and assists grant applications and grant reports as requested.
  • Represents the Church and Seniors throughout the community by providing outreach, as requested, for the purposes of program awareness, education, and promoting cooperation and collaboration in support of the program needs.

  • Demonstrates teamwork and support of the mission and values.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Complies with Church and Seniors guidelines, policies, and standards.

Education and Work Experience:
Pursuing or having a degree in health, social work, non-profit management or equivalent experience working with seniors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of physical and mental health needs of senior citizens.
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders in a diverse community.
  • Ability to effectively work within a provided budget.
  • Ability to respond to sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Ability to use general office equipment, computers, and related software programs.

Work Environment:
Work is typically performed at the Church or for outside events.
Physical Demands:
This position requires periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, as well as periods of walking, standing, and lifting/moving tables and chairs. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Travel:
Facilitate picking up and/or dropping off donations and facilitating events outside the Church.
Hours and Pay:
The Administrator is not required to be present at all times the Seniors are present for activities, but will maintain contact with lead persons from the Dancers and Gamers groups. Administrator is expected to average no more than 16 hours per week. Take home pay after taxes and FICA will be approximately $15 per hour.
