Job Title:
Director of Christian Education Classification:
Salaried, Full-Time (40 hours per week), 8 hours per day,
Sun-Th Reports To:
Head of Staff Job Summary/Objectives:
To effectively build and lead educational ministries for children, youth, and adults of First Presbyterian Church of Lynchburg that encourage a closer relationship with God and one another.
Supervisory Responsibility:
None Required Qualifications:
> A sense of call to God's church with a special focus in fostering interpersonal relationships through educational ministries for children, youth, and adults. > Affiliation with, and knowledge of, Presbyterian Church (USA) theology and polity > Minimum bachelor's degree in Christian ministry, Theology, or Education. > Knowledge Advanced proficiency in technology to communicate effectively with all age groups > Experience in public speaking and motivating large groups of people > Skills in engaging in and building positive relationships with a wide variety of people > Experience in recruiting and training volunteers
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Arts in Educational Ministries and/or completion of Director of Christian Education certificate program, or similar graduate-level work, or comparable work experience.
Work Environment:
Office, classroom, and community
Physical Demands:
Lift 20 lbs. Interact with young children. Standing and kneeling.
