Job Description

Baldwin Youth Services, Inc. is seeking a qualified applicant for the full time position of Child Intervention Worker. The position available is our Monday-Friday
AFTERNOON
(2nd) shift for the hours of 2:30pm-10:00pm (weekends off) and is located at our Intervention Center. Baldwin Youth Services operates a crisis intervention center/shelter care located in Robertsdale serving Baldwin County youth. Qualifications:
Applicant must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED and must be able to pass a criminal background check once hired. Worker may have to transport youth in our van, so applicant must possess a valid driver's license. Many of our youth and/or parents speak English as a second language so bi-lingual applicants are encouraged, but it is not a requirement. Applicant must have good communication skills and be able to work well with other staff, juvenile probation officers, family members, and DHR workers in order to assure that the best interests of the children are served. Applicant must be able to work well with challenging youth and be able to establish solid boundaries and maintain structure while engaging in a positive, but firm manner with our youth. Applicant must be able to balance working independently with working as a member of a team. Applicant must have basic computer skills and be able to manage minimal paperwork.
Job description:
We are seeking someone for our Monday through Friday afternoon shift for the hours of 2:30pm to 10:00pm. The shift is 38-40 hours per week and there is occasional opportunities for (optional) paid overtime. Worker will provide care for up to eight children between the ages of 8-17 who have been placed by Juvenile Court, DHR, Juvenile Probation, and parent/legal custodian at our Intervention Center.
Duties are:
to keep children engaged in productive tasks at all times; supervise children at all times; cook meals; clean and organize the facility; drive agency van to transport children as needed; assist with school work as needed; administer medications; complete intakes and discharges of children; supervise summer activities; and other duties as assigned.
