Job Description
Title:
Life Skills Companion / ILS & Respite Support — Young Adult with Autism (Whittier Area) We are looking for a warm, energetic, and reliable person to work one-on-one with a 19-year-old gentleman who has autism spectrum disorder (ASD Level 2). This is a paid position through a Regional Center Self-Determination Program offering stable hours, a consistent schedule, and meaningful work.What you will do:
- Visit his home 4-5 times per month for approximately 4 hours per visit.
- Help him with daily living skills, including cooking simple meals, personal hygiene, and cleaning/organizing personal space.
- Support him with community outings, such as trips to the library, community walks, movies, errands, the gym, and the pool.
- Provide supervised companionship to give his parents scheduled time off.
- Build a genuine connection and rapport based on his interests in animation, Star Wars, WWII history, and building/making things.
- Teach by doing, rather than lecturing.
- Track progress and communicate with the family regularly.
What we are looking for:
- Experience working with adults with ASD (essential).
- RBT certification or working toward a BCBA (strongly preferred).
- Genuine warmth, patience, and reliability.
- Valid California driver's license.
- Interest in animation, gaming, history, or making/building things (a plus).
- Must pass a background check.
Hours:
Approximately 20 hours per month (flexible scheduling)Pay:
$25-30/hr depending on experience (paid through Regional Center SDP payroll)Location:
Whittier, CA Pay:
$25.00- $30.
