Hā'ikū Elementary and Pā'ia Elementary Schools Join Our North Shore A+ Team! Do you enjoy working with kids and want a job where you can make a difference in your community? The Maui Family YMCA is hiring part-time team members for our A+ After-School Programs at Hā'ikū and Pā'ia Elementary Schools. You'll spend your afternoons helping elementary students learn, play, build friendships, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment. From outdoor games and creative projects to homework time and group activities, no two afternoons are exactly the same! We welcome applicants with childcare experience, as well as individuals who are interested in getting started in youth development. Work Schedule & Availability We're looking for team members who can consistently arrive at their assigned school by the following times:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday:

1:30 PM-5:30

PM Wednesday:

12:00 PM-5:30PM Applicants must have reliable transportation to Hā'ikū and/or Pā'ia. Consistent weekday availability is preferred. Please let us know which school you would like to work at or if you're open to either location. What You'll Be Doing As part of our A+ team, you'll help make the hours after school a positive experience for Maui's keiki.

Your day-to-day work will include:

Keeping students engaged, safe, and appropriately supervised Organizing games, outdoor play, arts and crafts, and other activities Providing homework assistance and supporting quiet time Helping students develop friendships, teamwork, and positive behavior Encouraging participation and making sure every child feels included Working closely with your Site Coordinator and fellow counselors Preparing activity spaces and helping with daily cleanup Following YMCA and Hawai'i DOE program procedures and safety guidelines Who We'd Love to Meet You might be a great fit if you: Enjoy being around elementary-age children Show up on time and take your responsibilities seriously Bring a positive attitude, patience, and creativity to your work Can stay active and engaged throughout the afternoon Work well with others and communicate respectfully Are comfortable assisting with both indoor and outdoor activities Want to contribute to a program that supports local families Experience working with children is a plus, but it's not required. We're happy to consider applicants who are eager to learn and grow with our team. Candidates selected for employment will need to complete applicable onboarding and clearance requirements, including fingerprinting, background checks, TB clearance, and required YMCA and A+ training.
