A Family, School, or General Social Worker provides specialized assistance to vulnerable families and children. Intervenes in crisis situations; evaluates individual and family needs, helps clients get access to health care, mental health care or social services such as housing assistance. Advocates for clients and provides follow up visits. May work with teachers, parents and school administrators to help students improve academically and deal with social issues such as bullying.
$36,000-$37,000 annually The Family Assessment/Support Worker (FASW) will act as a team member in managing and providing client-centered, culturally competent, and effective services to children and their families. The FASW will be responsible for initiating and maintaining regular and long-term contact/support with families; interviewing families, conducting home visits with a family-centered and strength- based approach, acting as a liaison between Healthy Families and resource agencies, improving family support system and establishing goals; increasing family's ability to problem solve and assume the role of advocate for themselves and their children. Conduct in-home parent assessment/interviews, collect data, and assess client needs Provide child development, family safety, and community resources to families Act as a liaison between Healthy Families and resource and referral agencies Advocate for parents and children in the community and participate in community special events.
