Youth Coordinator Job Summary:
The Youth Coordinator develops, coordinates, and implements evidence-based youth wellness programs that empower youth to make healthy choices and improve their overall well-being. This position focuses on tobacco and vaping prevention, nutrition education, physical activity, child wellness, and other health promotion initiatives through school, community, and organizational partnerships. The Youth Coordinator works collaboratively with community partners, schools, healthcare organizations, and youth-serving agencies to expand access to health education and preventive services throughout Kosciusko County. The position also supports youth engagement activities through Live Well Kosciusko's role as the lead agency for the Breathe Well Coalition and works closely with the Tobacco-Free Coordinator to implement youth tobacco prevention initiatives.
•This is a grant funded position. Grant-funded positions are contingent upon continued funding.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate youth wellness programs that promote healthy lifestyles and prevent chronic disease. Coordinate youth programming associated with Outrun the Sun and other cancer prevention initiatives. Plan and facilitate youth nutrition and physical activity programs such as Summer Health Lunch Bunch or similar. Support youth tobacco and vaping prevention initiatives in collaboration with the Tobacco-Free Coordinator and the Breathe Well Coalition. Coordinate and support countywide youth empowerment programs, including VOICE Core and Action Squads. Assist with implementation of youth tobacco prevention campaigns, educational presentations, and community outreach. Maintain relationships with local school corporations to support youth prevention programming, including the Indiana Youth Tobacco Survey as applicable. Utilize evidence-based strategies and CDC Best Practices to reduce youth tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke. Participate in statewide youth empowerment initiatives, training, and technical assistance opportunities. Coordinate and support countywide youth empowerment programs, including VOICE Core and Action Squads. Assist with implementation of youth tobacco prevention campaigns, educational presentations, and community outreach. Collaborate with the Marketing Specialist to promote youth programs and health campaigns. Attend trainings, meetings, and conferences as required. Travel throughout Kosciusko County and occasionally throughout Indiana for meetings, trainings, and events. Keep senior leadership informed of program progress, challenges, and accomplishments. Serve on Live Well Kosciusko committees, workgroups, and collaborative initiatives as assigned. Adhere to all Live Well Kosciusko policies, procedures, and ethical standards. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong leadership and organizational skills. Passion for youth engagement and empowerment. Familiarity with media platforms and outlets. Computer skills including Microsoft Office. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking. Effective active listening skills and social perceptiveness. Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate events and activities required by the grant. Possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor's degree preferred. Two years of administrative experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.

$44,262.00 per year
