Job Description

The Director of Children and Youth Ministry will, through thoughtful planning and preparation, provide leadership for Bible study, discipleship, praise, worship, missions education and involvement, and fellowship events in an engaging environment. The Director of Children and Youth Ministry is responsible for leading a growing youth ministry, providing Christ-centered, enthusiastic leadership to recruit, support and maintain participation of children and youth. The Director is to encourage a deeper relationship with Christ, spiritual growth and personal worship. This includes group interactions, connection on social media, informal gatherings and attending children and youth activities.
Priorities:
1. Be an approachable and outgoing Christian, a member in good standing of the church, and become a member of Bardstown Baptist Church.2. Plan, coordinate, oversee and evaluate a comprehensive children and youth program inclusive of all children and youth age groups that create opportunities to worship, fellowship and apply biblical truths to their lives. 3. Direct the selection of the most suitable education and curriculum materials.4. Recruit, coordinate, train, empower and lead a team of ministry volunteers for youth, children and nursery.5. Collaborate with the church staff and ministry support teams to coordinate and schedule events, activities, projects and programs.6. Intentionally build relationships with the participants and their parents/guardians through in person meetings, phone, social media, bulletins, email and website(s).
Qualifications:
This position requires a Wednesday evening and Sunday morning schedule and participation. Experience working with children and youth plus serving on a church staff is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills with children, youth and adults; must be an exceptional listener and communicator; must profess faith in Jesus Christ and exhibit a passion and commitment to sharing Christ with others. The Director of Children and Youth Ministry is a part-time, salaried position.
