A Family, School, or General Social Worker provides specialized assistance to vulnerable families and children. Intervenes in crisis situations; evaluates individual and family needs, helps clients get access to health care, mental health care or social services such as housing assistance. Advocates for clients and provides follow up visits. May work with teachers, parents and school administrators to help students improve academically and deal with social issues such as bullying.

  • Spanish Benefits Performs work of moderate difficulty in providing weekly home visits to adolescent and adult mothers and/or fathers, and infants.
The Social Worker HANDS supports the development of maternal and infant health competence. Emphasis is on reinforcing the strengths of parents and providing new choices for coping with problems. Services are providing/using the Growing Great Kids curriculum and HANDS state policies to see children live in a healthy and safe home; to oversee that families experience positive pregnancy outcomes and realize improved family self-sufficiency. Performs client intake surveys and quarterly professional visits. This position requires a flexible schedule that may include some evening hours in order to meet the needs of the families we serve. Spanish language bilingual ability is preferred for this position. Bilingual ability will be assessed to ensure competency.
